Untamed by Glennon Doyle

Untamed by Glennon Doyle is POWERFUL.

Glennon talks about her journey to becoming “untamed” and recognizing the ways in which she has adhered to society’s pressures to conform in certain ways. She discusses her journey to overcome those pressures and does so in an engaging, honest, and empowering way.

One of the concepts that really stuck with me was the idea that life is “brutiful”, a mix of “brutal” and “beautiful.” And that is how I would describe this book. She lays it out there, and some of what she discusses is a sucker punch to the gut and leaves you with a sick feeling in the pit of your stomach. She hits home the ways in which we conform to certain societal pressures and the ways in which we think we are being helpful, to ourselves and others, but are actually perpetuating pain and brokenness.

But, there are also some powerfully beautiful moments in this book, too. Moments that I found myself rereading or just sitting in silent reverence for the beauty that life can hold.

Glennon’s writing style is engaging, relatable, and there were several times I found myself laughing out loud and others where there were tears in my eyes.

I highly recommend this book, but be prepared to be changed.
